So just 2 more weeks left and trying to make the most of my stay at TCS.
I wanted to share some insights into the IT Industry , based on 2 year work experience in The service industry and I am writing this especially for the freshers who are probably confused a bit in their new phase of life.
Though, an IT professionals life seems all nice, enviable , earning big bucks(comparatively :)), owning high flying gadgets , weekends at Disco,
Go karting, treks ,girl friends ,credit cards , onsite travel and many more
there are some harsh realities which every fresher should know.
1.Get used to the tough schedule of the job, this profession is not a 9-5 job ,unless your on bench ,be prepared to slog on an average of 10 -12 hours everyday at least in the intial months. Accept the fact that projects are huge and will definitely take time to learn There have been days when we've returned home the next day morning.
2.No one is your friend or a foe in a professional career, everyone is a competitor.
Dont carry forward the college relationships into work. You work for yourself and every consequence is an outcome of your action ieyour the best decision maker for yourself.
3.A smart, alert, visiblity creating employee will always get ahead of a
hardworking, silent and introvert guy.So dont stay just to yourself, create
visibility ,interact more , energize more.It definitely helps a lot in the long run.
4.Maintain good working relationship with the boss!, if you want to get ahead
this definitely is a mantra ,may it be Hari Sadu or whomsoever you will have to
bear the boss.
5.Develop competencies in the job, just sticking onto technicalities of the job , will make a you single track horse .Learn more for better ,change for better.
6.Last but not the least, try to enjoy the job and plan and enjoy the weekends as much as u can.
Good luck !!
